Crowns are above-the-gum tooth coverings that have been cemented into place. Unlike fillings, crowns cover the entire visible part of the tooth.
Our Southport family dentistry and Oak Island family dentistry locations now offer a method called CEREC (Chair-side Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) dentistry. CEREC uses a CAD-system to produce quality, long lasting porcelain crowns and fillings in a single appointment, so no second trip to the dentist will be required as with traditional crowns. CEREC eliminates the need for temporary crowns that can sometimes be problematic. Our doctors have been trained by the top CEREC instructors in the country.
