Dr. Angie Baechtold
Dr. Angie is a board-certified pediatric dentist. She joined Coastal Pediatric Dentistry in 2022. DR. Angie was born in Oak Ridge Tennessee but has lived in North Carolina for 30 years. She fell in love with all that our state has to offer from the mountains to the sea; a great place to raise her family.
Dr. Angie is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA in chemistry and a minor in music. She completed her DDS degree and MS degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals where she received extensive training in the growth and development of children, adolescents and special need patients; providing preventive, restorative and oral surgical care. She proudly serves as past-president of the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and President-Elect (2023) of the Southern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is adjunct faculty at UNC School of Dentistry Department of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the Buncombe County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry with Fellowship status.
The majority of her career has been spent in private practice in western NC where she founded Great Beginnings Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in 1998. She remained managing partner for 18 years. Dr. Angie has always been passionate about the care and environment that children start their dental journey. She created her practice as an office that families and children would be proud to call their dental home. She is overjoyed to join the Coastal Pediatric Dentistry team which shares those same values. The best compliment Dr. Angie has ever received was from a 4-year-old girl who asked “Dr. Angie, can I have my birthday party here?”
Dr. Angie is the mother of two adult children, Ethan and Anna Kate. Outside the world of dentistry, she owns Lily of the Valley Flower Farm, a start-up flower farm in Burnsville, NC. She chairs the Horticulture Committee of the French Broad River Garden Club with the Garden Club of America. Over the years she has enjoyed travels and adventures with her family as well as mission work in Haiti and Bolivia South America. When she is not practicing dentistry or digging in her garden, she enjoys playing piano and cello. She stays active hiking, biking and enjoying the sunshine with her Goldendoodle Beatrice.
