5th Annual ‘Give Kids A Smile’
hosted by Coastal Pediatric Dentistry
Kids & Parents Had A Reason to Smile This Year
Bolivia, NC – February, 2021 – Dr. Cecilia Liu & Dr. Nichole Ramsbottom hosted their 5th annual Give Kids A Smile program providing a free day of dental care to children of Brunswick County at Coastal Pediatric Dentistry on Friday Feb 5th. Children received free x-rays, an exam and either a free cleaning or free sealants. Parents left with a better understanding of their child’s current oral health and tips to keep their child’s smile healthy!
Give Kids A Smile is the centerpiece of National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM) which focuses on providing oral health education to ALL children.
Dr. Cecilia Liu shared ”the best part of this day is talking to parents and grandparents one on one. It’s a good day when we can make children comfortable at the dentist and teach adults and children how to protect their growing smiles”. Dr. Nichole Ramsbottom felt that “parents were excited to hear about new technology like the HealthyStart® System”, a series of uniquely designed oral appliances that are worn for a few hours per day and/or during the night while a child sleeps. The appliances promote nasal breathing and naturally widen the dental arches, developing the jaw naturally, all while straightening teeth without braces.
Dr. Darren Harrington thanked local media partners for helping to get the word out about the day and recognized healthcare providers, school PTA’s, school nurses and community groups for sharing the information. Dr Harrington noted that, “National Children’s Dental Health Month is an important focus at the start of every year and although things look different for everyone these days, maintaining oral hygiene can’t be lost in the process.”
